wale ovechkin

Hold your breath. Or don't?

So the man behind the Mixtape About Nothing is set to release a brand spanking new mixtape on the morrow, which I have been eagerly anticipating for months... even moreso when it was reported that 9th Wonder would be producing the entire shit.

The mixtape is dubbed...

Back to the Feature

I don't expect it to be another concept job and that doesn't bother me. However, there are rumours here and there the mixtape isn't completed yet because there hasn't been much in advertisement on Wale's website.

Oh well.

We'll see tomorrow.

Note: Nice to see Ovechkin and the Caps beat the Rangers tonight in Game 7, but man that was some ugly, ugly hockey. Ovech has been a little guilty of trying to do too much by himself, carrying the puck through the neutral zone, looking straight ahead and putting perimetre shots on the goalie. Neither team really looked comfortable or like a team the entire series, as all goals seemed to come on screened shots, rebounds or wierd bounces and not much playmaking.

On the other hand, while I didn't watch much of the Devils-Canes series (because I care less than No-Heart and Shrieky about those two teams) the third period of Game 7 tonight was something else. Both teams were buzzing, were throwing the puck from tape to tape with creative and genuine scoring chances and playing inspired hockey. It looked like a league above the other game, where pucks were jumping off of sticks, everyone was turning it over and shots were coming from just inside the blueline.

'a grown man can separate lust from love' (edited August 23?)

I know I pimped Wale's 'Mixtape About Nothing' a couple weeks ago, but I've been wearing it out on my iPod the last week or so and want to pass on these wise words to all you non-hip-hop heads out there, who may not listen to the lyrics.

Cool definition of what love is.

From The Grown Up:
Girl listen/tryin to position/myself as a prominent figure/fatherlike, I know what's right for ya/sisterlike, I know what to buy for ya/brotherlike, at times I might fight with ya/but motherlike, never can deny my lovin'

I can't find a link to the track, but here is where to get the entire album.

Note:
Maybe I'm listening to my tunes too loudly, because the love language might be seeping through the apartment. Either my neighbours are doing some late night home reno hammering, or practicing their speed-metal bass drum, or they are makin' loorve...

I hope I don't run into them in the hall tomorrow and they're in their eighties.

You must be at least this old for a mustache ride

That would be love... and disturbing... and -- I'm not going to lie -- impressive, considering the speed with which the pounding was taking place.

EDIT (AUGUST 23@!#$^#*$&^#*$(*#$&):
"Hey! It's the best kept secret!"

As if someone out there in that cosmos had heard (in html) my rants about not being able to find the track, it was posted the next day... Weird! (I've always known that these little co-inky-dinks are proof there is meaning in life.)

Here it is, folks. In all it's glory, what I have been ribbed about:

I hope you all enjoy. If you do, let me know.

And there you have it/you can have it if you wanna have it/I wanna make havin' it a habit

A whole lot out of nothing

The Can is a happy man.

Stepping into the downstairs lobby of my building, I heard some bass booming and high-pitched hollering.  As I walked up the stairs and toward my apartment, the sound got louder and when I opened the door, there was Oil Can, finally out of the tent, rocking to the Seinfeld beat?
I said, huh...

"This kid is hawt, baby!"
Oil Can kept repeating and snapping his fingers.
"Day-yum..."

I said, "That's the Seinfeld theme!"

"What the fuck is a Seinfeld?"

I put my bag down and I had me a little listen, and I agree...
"day-yum, indeed."
Since this internet connection is slow at best, I was only able to catch a couple tracks off the mixtape on youtube.
What this dude Wale from D.C. did was he ran with this Seinfeld concept, where he used the characters and their quarks to flow through a bunch of different, interesting and important issues... (Check out The Kramer to see what I mean - listen to it the whole way through - shit almost makes you feel squeamish at times, but it's because he's so right).
He is most certainly on point.
I'm watching the download bar, meter thing snail along, so I'll set up a link or two of Wale's "mixtape tape about nothing."

This is going to accompany the marathon Nintendo sessions and deadline stressing this week...

And it's good to see Oil Can smile again... like he is choosing to ignore the giant chunks of sea ice crashing into the shore of the chilly city and the airport being closed due to low hanging, nasty grey clouds...
I owe you one, Wale
